    About SIBM Pune

    SIBM Pune established in 1978, was the first college to be set up under the Symbiosis Society. Initially it started with its old campus at Senapati Bapat Road in Pune. Later it shifted to its permanent campus on the magnificent hills of Lavale in 2007 and was labeled as the Hilltop Heaven. As per NIRF Ranking 2024, SIBM Pune was ranked 13th among the top management institutes in India. It is a popular institute among the private B-Schools and has been ranked 6th by Outlook 2024. 

    The institute is known for its flagship MBA program and also offers an MBA I&E and an Executive MBA program. The seat intake for MBA is 180 seats and for MBA I&E is 60 seats. The admission into the MBA program is based on a common entrance exam called SNAP, followed by a Group Exercise and a Personal Interview. The SNAP cutoff is around 98.2 percentile. 

    The fees for the current 2024-26 batch is INR 26.79 Lakhs for 2 years. The placement for the year 2024 has concluded successfully. The institute has achieved a highest package of INR 49 LPA and an average package of INR 28.16 LPA.

    • Selection Basis: The admission into the MBA program at SIBM Pune will be based on the SNAP test, followed by a Group Exercise and a Personal Interview (GE-PI).
    • SNAP Test: It is a common admission test for admission into all the Symbiosis campuses. It is usually held in December in 3 Phases and the registration for the same starts in August. 
    • For SNAP 2023, over 1 Lakh students registered, which was around 25% more than the previous year.

    • The fees of SIBM Pune increases every academic year. This year for the academic batch 2024-26, from INR 24.59 Lakhs in 2023 to INR 26.79 lakhs in 2024.
    • The hostel and mess fees have also increased every year by around 10%. The hostel fees for the academic batch 2024 is INR 65K per semester and the mess fees is INR 47.25K per semester.

    • The difference between the median package and the average package is quite high. This shows that the placement is highly skewed and thus the average package is not a good measure to analyze the SIBM’s placements.

    • In the 2024 placements, BFSI is the most dominating sector with offers made to around 23% of the students. 
    • The average package offered to the finance students was 25.52 LPA and some of the roles offered to them were Credit Risk Management, Financial Analytics and Change Management, Investment Banking, Project & Product Management, Wealth Management, etc.
    • The next dominating sector was IT/ E-Commerce with offers made to 21% of the students, followed by the FMCG/ FMCD sector with 18% of offers and Automotive/ Manufacturing with 13% of offers. 

    SIBM Pune Summer Internship Report 

    • The summer internship placement of MBA batch 2023-25 concluded with the participation of 70 recruiters. 
    • The highest stipend bagged by the students was INR 4.50 Lakh, which was mainly offered to the students of Marketing and Human Resources. 
    • The overall average stipend stood at INR 3.23 lakhs, but the average stipend of males differed from that of female students, i.e. INR 3.19 lakhs for males and INR 3.29 lakhs for females.

    Life at SIBM Pune 

    Campus – SIBM Pune is situated on the magnificent hills of Lavale, with the academic block at one end and the hostels at the other. The campus offers a picturesque view of the valley from all sides. The students say that the view is spectacular during the night, especially from the amphitheatre. Because of the breathtaking views it offers, the campus has been currently called the Hilltop Haven.

    Campus Facilities – The institute has a well-managed library with books in all areas of management and subscriptions to databases & journals. There is a convention center and an auditorium for hosting cultural as well as formal/professional events. There are also some amazing sports facilities like a swimming pool, a gym (with Zumba, aerobics and Yoga batches), badminton, squash and basketball courts, a full-sized cricket and football field, table tennis setups, and even a room with a pool table and apparatus.  

    Hostels – The institute has 3 hostel blocks that include separate hostels for boys and girls. The rooms are not very spacious and are usually in two, triple and four sharing. Each hostel room has study provisions and adequate storage space. There is a common TV area where all the important matches are enjoyed in large groups. 

    Typical Day at SIBM Pune: The schedule of the SIBM students is dynamic. The students receive their schedule every morning in their mail. Their day usually starts in a similar fashion with everyone walking or running towards the mess and then going to their classes for the 8 am session. After the classes are done, students continue their day with their own thing like some of them go to the council room if they are members of the Student Council, and some play sports or hit the gym. After dinner, the students are either found in their rooms, library or at the midnight canteen, working on their group projects and assignments.
