About NIMS Mumbai
Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) was established in Mumbai in 1981 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM), a renowned public charitable trust. Initially, NMIMS offered management programs at the diploma and master’s levels under the University of Mumbai, including courses in Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources.
In 1991, NMIMS became the first institute in Mumbai to receive AICTE recognition for its Post Graduate Diploma in Management program, marking a milestone in professional education. Over the years, the institute expanded its offerings to diploma, MBA, and doctoral (Ph.D.) levels.
Recognizing its contribution to management education, the Government of India, through the Ministry of Human Resource Development, declared NMIMS as a Deemed-to-be University in January 2003 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Since then, NMIMS has emerged as one of India’s leading private universities, with the School of Business Management (SBM) at its core.
